Usage of TPU – PUR Material in Cable Manufacturing:

TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) material finds extensive application in the cable industry due to its various advantages and characteristics. The properties of PUR materials, such as mechanical durability, suitability for outdoor use, flexibility, chemical resistance, use in wet and humid environments, and high temperature tolerance, fulfill the demanding requirements of specific cable applications.

  1. Application in Flexible and Durable Cables:
  • PUR is utilized in the production of many flexible and durable cable types.
  • Flexible control cables, robotic applications, moving parts, and cable installations often opt for PUR material.

  1. Abrasion Resistance and Longevity:
  • The high abrasion resistance and high tear resistance of PUR allows cables to withstand heavy usage and have a long service life.
  • PUR-insulated/jacketed cables provide durability in heavy industrial environments, outdoor conditions, underwater/moist environments, and moving applications.

  1. Chemical Resistance:
  • PUR material is an ideal choice for cables used in industrial environments due to its resistance to various chemicals (mineral oils, non-alcoholic gasoline, solvents, etc.).
  • PUR cables are commonly employed in chemical processing plants, petrochemical industry, and chemical transfer lines.

  1. Low / High Temperature Tolerance:
  • PUR is a material that provides stability under high temperature conditions.
  • PUR cables are preferred, especially in the automotive sector for engine compartments, exhaust systems, and other high-temperature applications.
  • Cables produced with PUR material are cables that provide flexibility under low-temperature conditions and are preferred even in low-temperature environments.

  1. Antimicrobial Properties:
  • Ether-based PUR materials exhibit antimicrobial properties. Therefore, Ether-based PUR cables are preferred, particularly in food production and medical equipment manufacturing. Prolonged exposure to damp and warm environments can lead to the decomposition of Ester-based PUR material and make it susceptible to microbial degradation.

For this reason, Baran Cable utilizes Ether-based PUR material in PUR cable production to provide resistance against microbial degradation.
